Are Fitbits Compatible With Samsung?
Fitbits are compatible with Samsung devices with Android 10 or higher. However, it’s recommended to update Android phones to the latest OS version. Smartphones that don’t have a supported OS can still use the app, but they can’t reinstall it once deleted.
Whether you’re setting up your Fitbit Sense, Versa, Luxe, Inspire, or Charge to your Samsung, you will receive a notification that signals the beginning of the setup process on your smartphone.
The Fitbit app runs in the background on Samsung phones to keep users connected with the features, including app notifications, GPS, and automatic syncing.
However, if the app does not run in the background, it may be due to the following reasons:
- Firmware updates won’t complete on the Fitbit device.
- Apps won’t update or run consistently on the Fitbit device.
- Connected GPS loses connection continuously.
- Fitbit device won’t automatically sync.
- Missing and delayed notifications from the phone.

Is Fitbit Compatible With Samsung Galaxy?
Fitbit is compatible with Samsung phones, including the A-series, C series, F series, J series, M series, Note series, On6, Quantum 2, S series, Xcover series, Z Flip series, and Z Fold series. You can also use an older Samsung smartphone if it supports or is upgradeable to Android 10.0.
Regardless of its brand, any smartphone that runs Android 10.0 or higher should work with Fitbit devices. If your phone is not listed above, you can still use it with the Fitbit app, given that it meets the OS requirements. However, some smartphone models may have compatibility issues. Follow the setup instructions to connect your Fitbit to your Samsung Galaxy successfully.
I tried using my Fitbit Charge 3 before with Samsung Galaxy S20. But unfortunately, I wasn’t able to receive and read texts on the smartwatch. A Fitbit representative from the support team told me that Galaxy S20 wasn’t in the supported devices list as it doesn’t meet the OS requirements. Remember, Fitbit devices are only compatible with Android OS 10.0 or higher.

Which Fitbit Can Connect to Your Phone
There are different models of Fitbit trackers available, including Ace, Inspire, Versa, Sense, Charge, and Luxe. The most popular Fitbit trackers include Charge 5, Inspire 2, Versa 3, and Ace 3. They can connect to Android phones and iPhones with Apple iOS 13.4 or higher and Android 10 or higher.
Once you connect your phone to the Fitbit device, you will receive a notification about Fitbit Sync informing you about the Fitbit app running in your phone’s background. This notification will pop up even if the app is closed and will remain on your smartphone unless you delete it.
To enjoy all the Fitbit app features on your phone, grant access requests. For instance, grant permission for the app to access your camera to get stats. Then, follow the steps below to allow the app to access all these features on your mobile device:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Click the Fitbit app.
- Enable Permissions.
Every phone model may have different ways to change or verify the settings. If you’re not sure how to do this, read your manual or contact the manufacturer. Some of the important features that need permission to access your phone include calendar, storage, SMS, location, camera, and phone.
