How Do I Stop My Fitbit From Disconnecting?
Generally, Bluetooth interruptions stopping your Fitbit Bluetooth are caused by operating systems or Bluetooth limitations. Likely it’s a device that affects Bluetooth signal, such as baby monitors or a microwave. An app on your phone may be causing the issue if you have Android turn on ‘always connected’ in the Fitbit app.
The interference from your microwave and other household devices causes your Fitbit to keep disconnecting. These frequencies run along the wavelength of Bluetooth, interrupting your Fitbit.
Be aware of any device that may interfere with your Fitbit when connecting to your mobile.
If this happens to you a lot, it’s time to figure out the best way to resolve it and keep it from happening again. More often than not, a glitch could also be preventing your Fitbit from connecting to your phone. An update waiting to be installed another cause for connection issues, which you can easily solve by restarting your device.
The following are some of the most effective techniques to fix Bluetooth disconnection problems:
- Avoid syncing multiple devices to your Fitbit app. If you’re using your iPhone and iPad to connect to your Fitbit app, you might experience syncing issues. Not all Fitbits can be used to sync with more devices. While Fitbit says that the Sense and Versa models can be used with multiple devices, they have syncing issues with two or more devices.
- If your Fitbit doesn’t get updated automatically, make sure to always check for any pending updates to be done. Checking for current updates is the first option for troubleshooting your Fitbit and fixing bugs.
- If updating your Fitbit doesn’t fix the connection issue, the next step is to restart the device. There are two ways to restart your Fitbit: reboot the device through the side and bottom buttons and the Settings app. I will show you how to do it below.
- Unpairing and re-pairing your Fitbit should be the last option. If all else fails, try un-pairing your device and then pair it back again. It should sync your devices and allow them to communicate again through a stable Bluetooth connection.
You need your smartphone to access the Fitbit app to check for any updates. On your iPhone, do the following steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Select General.
- Scroll down until you find the Software Updates tab, and click on it.
For the Android device, here are the steps to follow:
- Go to Settings.
- Please scroll down and choose Systems and click on it.
- You may need to go to Advanced Settings.
- Click on System Update.
- Choose Check for Update.
To restart your device, follow these steps:
- Press the left or side and bottom buttons and hold them down for at least 10 seconds. Wait until the Fitbit logo is shown on the screen. Once it appears, release the two buttons immediately.
- Allow the Fitbit to restart and wait until the reboot process is finished.
Another way to restart a Fitbit device is through the Settings app. All you need to do is the following:
- Click on the clock face.
- Go to Settings and tap About.
- Select Reboot or Shutdown. The device should reboot, shut down, or turn off.
- Press the corresponding button to confirm the action.
- Please wait until the Fitbit device is shut down, then turn it on again.
When re-pairing your Fitbit device, there are simple steps to do:
- Go to Settings and then click on Connections.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Click on your Fitbit’s name.
- Scroll down and select Forget this device or Unpair button.
- Open the Fitbit app instead of pairing the device using the Bluetooth settings.
These quick and easy steps should stop your Fitbit from disconnecting randomly. If nothing happens, the best thing to do is contact Fitbit customer support for further assistance.

Why Does My Fitbit Keep Stop Syncing?
There are many potential reasons your Fitbit is not syncing, such as the outdated app. Also, it could be due to the device becoming disassociated with your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Lastly, it can be caused by Bluetooth pairing issues.
One of the best solutions to successfully sync your Fitbit device with the app is to check your Bluetooth settings. Turn it off and then turn it on again to see if your device syncs with the app.
Now, whether you still can’t transfer your data to your account from the Fitbit device or don’t receive notifications from your smartphone, here’s what you should do:
- On your smartphone, force quit your Fitbit app.
- Go to the Settings menu and select Bluetooth.
- Please turn off the Bluetooth and turn it back on.
- Open the app and sync the device.
- Restarting your Fitbit device is the last resort if the device still doesn’t sync.
If you’re using an iPhone, ensure you have the latest iOS version. You can check it in your Settings, go to General, and then click Software Update. Likewise, the Fitbit device must also be updated regularly to avoid connection problems.
The best tip I can give you is that if you’re using multiple devices to sync, the other tablet or phone shouldn’t be nearby, as the other device being close to your phone will affect the Bluetooth connection.
More importantly, always make sure that your Fitbit is charged before syncing.
