I ADORE my Apple Watch.
When I first bought it, I rarely used it. I didn’t think there was a reason to. But, after spending hundreds of hours with this fantastic device, I understand why it’s a special product.
This article will explain the BEST reasons to buy an Apple Watch. In addition, I will share everything I learned.
You can read my article here to see the disadvantages of the Apple Watch.
1. Apple Watch Helps You Find a Lost iPhone
You lost your iPhone. The feeling of not knowing if it’s been eaten by the sofa monster or someplace else is terrible. If you ever lose your iPhone, this feature is a lifesaver.
]Your Apple Watch connects with your iPhone using Bluetooth, creating a loud bell sound. You don’t need to use this feature while connected to the internet. Please look at my video to see how it works and sounds.
I use this feature many times a day. One time I couldn’t find my iPhone in my hostel in Thailand.
I was ringing and ringing using Apple Watch, and the sound pointed to the bathroom. Everyone in the hostel tried to find it until a German girl saw it in the trash! I would NEVER have looked there without the find my iPhone feature. Most likely, the iPhone fell out of my pocket while in the toilet, but who would look in the trash?
It’s super easy to access from the watch’s watch-face. Swipe up and see it in the top right corner.
If you have a smaller iPhone, it’s even more useful as your iPhone will often disappear in bags or small holes, such as the iPhone Mini or SE.
I have the iPhone 13 Mini, the best phone I’ve owned. It’s beautiful to hold and has the same power as the iPhone 13. But its compact size makes it difficult to find if you don’t have an Apple Watch to locate it.
2. See and Reply to Notifications and Answer Calls on Your Wrist
You know the feeling, you hear a ping or feel your iPhone’s vibration, and you frantically search through your bag to find your iPhone.
I don’t know that feeling anymore. Whether on a motorcycle taxi in Thailand or within 262 feet of my iPhone, I can easily reply to any notification from my Watch.
If you are interested, you can see my post where I recorded my testing of the Bluetooth signal of the Apple Watch Series 7 with the iPhone 13 Mini.
You would think this makes you more addicted to notifications, but that isn’t the case. With a glance, you can see if the messages are important and need a response.
If you open your iPhone to look at WhatsApp, only wanting to reply to a message, you often browse Instagram and waste precious moments of your life. The Apple Watch is a fantastic productivity tool that stops this from happening.
Answering phone calls from the Watch is a game changer. It’s cool to press the answer button and immediately talk through your AirPods or the Apple Watches quality mic. I like talking on the Apple Watch; the speakers are crisp and load, but they drain a lot of battery.
If you are thinking of buying an Apple Watch, it’s important to know how to keep its battery happy & healthy. In my article, you can read my complete guide to Apple Watch battery health.
Unfortunately, the Apple Watch does not have a dedicated WhatsApp app. As a result, you can only reply to messages on the clock-face from the notifications; you cannot view messages.
However, WatchChat has the solution! It’s a fantastic third-party app that creates a real WhatsApp experience for your Apple Watch.
All apps from Apple, like FaceTime and iMessage, will work perfectly straight from the box.
A lot of people look at their phone notifications while driving. The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Nearly 390,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by looking at your Phone.
It would be best if you didn’t look at your phone while driving, but you can get away with a glance on your wrist vs. taking precious seconds searching for your phone to look at a notification. I often look at my notifications while on a motorbike. It’s MUCH easier than bringing out your phone.
3. An Apple Watch Makes Your iPhone Better
The Apple Watch is like a magic extension of your iPhone.
Have you ever been in the shower, listening to music, and wanting to change your song? The Apple Watch is waterproof, which you can learn more about in my helpful article. It is easy to change your tune to what you like.
If you listen to Audible or Podcasts, you can download all your favorite books, music, and podcasts direct to your Apple Watch. My Apple Watch Series 7 has 32GB of memory, which includes many podcasts, music, and books.
How does becoming smart, the lazy way, sound to you? Listening to Audible has transformed my life. So let it do the same for you. Audible Plus gives you access to Podcasts, Audiobooks & more. Listen to thousands of titles, wherever you want, when you want, stream or watch online.
4. The Apple Watch Is a Watch! (And Much More!)
It may seem obvious, but being able to glance at the Watch and instantly know the time quickly is a big life hack.
Whenever people ask for the time, I know in less than half a second. I feel far more in control of my productivity with the Apple Watch.
Watch faces can have two additional icons, which act as shortcuts to apps. For example, I have the date with the day in the top left corner and the weather below to instantly know the temperature. You can easily swipe between the watch faces to use different configurations, even with the same watch face.
For example, the Watch face, when I swipe right, has Audible and Spotify. Set up your watch faces, so they work best for you.
The Watch is waterproof. You still have time even when you don’t have a phone, such as being in the pool or the ocean.
If you’re buying the Apple Watch for fitness, it’s important to know if it will work correctly on your skin. The darker your skin, the less effective the Watch is for tracking calories. Learn more in my helpful article.
5. Use the Apple Watch to Be More Productive
The Apple Watch is an extremely powerful productivity tool. You save a lot of time when you don’t need to spend seconds looking for your phone.
I find the Apple Watch’s default timer app to be the perfect time management app.
Whenever I write a blog post or do other deep work, I set a 1-hour timer on my watch. This process helps me to remain 100% focused on the task and makes me FAR more productive.
It’s easy to glance at the timer to see how much time you have. Whenever I go to the toilet, or something interrupts my work, I press pause on the timer. After 1 hour, I set another timer for a 10-minute break where I chill and disconnect before working again.
I use the stopwatch feature whenever I need to track how long something takes to do, for example, when I edit my writer’s blog articles or measure how long it takes to commute to a coffee shop.
There are countless ways to use your Apple Watch for productivity, but I find the most simple apps, like the default timer app, to be the most useful.
Give the Apple Watch a try to manage your business notifications and set time blocks to work more efficiently.
6. Apple Watch Improves Your Fitness
The Apple Watch is a dedicated fitness watch whose workout app can track 24 different exercises with many more you can add to the app.
The exercises include lower-intensity exercises like walking and dancing. No matter your fitness level, your Apple Watch can record your workout.
I don’t use the feature, but you can track your friend’s workout activity, comment on each other workouts, and start seven-day competitions with them. It’s a great way to hold the team accountable.
If you struggle with exercising, the activity app on the Apple Watch is a fantastic way to encourage you to do more exercise as it makes it a game, but this game can transform your life.
The three rings summarize your progress. The goal is for you to sit less, move more and complete streaks by completing each circle daily.
- The red move ring shows how many active calories you burned.
- The green exercise ring shows how many minutes of brisk activity you’ve done.
- The blue stand ring shows how many times you’ve stood and moved for at least 1 minute per hour.
Conveniently, you can set goals and receive a weekly summary of your activity, which is stored on your watch. You can read Apple’s official article to learn more about the activity app.
The App I use for my workouts is Intervals Pro. It allows you to exercise without your iPhone as voice prompts from your Watch guide you through your workout.
I use it for shadowboxing and stretching. There’s no need to look at your Watch between workouts as the voice prompt tells you when you are halfway through a setup and the name of a new exercise.
If you just bought an Apple Watch and are wondering why Watch OS is taking ages to update, this post will explain why it’s happening and how you can fix it.
7. Apple Watch Cellular Can Save Your Life!
Imagine you are in a situation without your phone, like canoeing in the open ocean, and something goes wrong. A cellular Apple Watch provides a way to contact emergency services.
The more ways you have to contact emergency services, the better. Having a cellular Apple Watch provides backup. In case your phone gets lost or damaged, you have another option.
Also, a cellular Apple Watch allows you to leave your iPhone at home while still having the option to make calls and texts and receive notifications even in the ocean!
8. The Apple Watch Is Waterproof
My Apple Watch Series 7 has a water resistance of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010, so I can use it for underwater activities like swimming in the pool and snorkeling.
I’ve worn my watch for hours in heavy rain in Thailand, and still having access to the iPhone via your Apple Watch in the pouring rain is useful.
I’ve swam in the ocean and used my Apple Watch in a river, so I have 100% faith in its waterproof abilities. Apple’s main competitor in the smartwatch space, Fitbit, isn’t as waterproof. If you use your Fitbit in the water daily, it will quickly stop working. This problem isn’t the case with the Apple Watch.
If you have a cellular Apple Watch, having access to emergency services, assuming you have a signal, will save your life.
9. The Apple Watch Is a Camera Remote for iPhone
Ever needed to take a photo of yourself on the iPhone? Then, the Apple Watch is here for you, although it needs to be within the normal Bluetooth range of your iPhone (about 33 feet or 10 meters) to work as a camera remote.
The Apple Watch can set a shutter timer, giving you time to lower your wrist and pose for the shot.
As a YouTuber, I always use my iPhone as a second camera. This feature of the Apple Watch makes setting up the shot extremely easy.
10. The Apple Watch Has the Best Version of Siri
I find the Watch OS version of Siri to be the best. Siri often does not understand my command using my Mac or iPhone, but it always seems to work on the Apple Watch. My friend says the same.
The Apple Watch makes Siri very accessible. You can trigger Siri by saying ‘Hey Siri’ and raising your watch to your face or holding down the digital crown.
Whenever I want to change a song on Spotify when I’m on my motorbike, I raise my watch and tell Siri what song I want, and it is much faster than whipping out my iPhone to do the same.
Imagine you are driving and want to launch a book from Audible. Then, instead of spending invaluable seconds finding your iPhone and searching for the book, you can talk to the watch, and BANG, you are listening to the book you wanted, just like magic.
11. The Apple Watch Is a Flashlight
You may think the watch being a flashlight isn’t a big deal, but trust me, it is!
Suppose you’ve been in a dark area and need your hands for other things, like carrying bags; the iPhone’s flashlight, while good isn’t ideal. It would help if you had your hands free to point the light.
As the Apple Watch is on your wrist, you have both hands free to do other things. For example, I use my watch’s flashlight in the evening when I need to find something in my room but don’t want to turn the room light on as I don’t want to disrupt my sleep.
To turn on the flashlight, either do it from the quick menu via the watch face or activate Siri and say ‘flashlight.’ In my YouTube video, you can see a demonstration of the Apple Watch flashlight and how strong the light is.
If you are a Harry Potter nerd, you will be delighted to know you can say ‘Lumos’ and the flashlight turns on, and saying ‘Nox’ will turn off the light.
The watch’s flashlight has three modes. One is a normal flashlight; if you press the screen, it becomes stronger; the second is an SOS flashing light, and the last is a red light.
Ever wondered if Apple recommends using a screen protector for their devices? For the real answer, you can read my helpful article.
12. The Apple Watch Is a Fantastic Audio Note Recorder
Have you ever forgotten an Amazing idea? The Apple Watch is a fantastic way to record your thoughts and feelings.
I use the fantastic app Noted. It has a feature where you can organize your notes into notebooks, which is how I learn different languages.
Noted is better on the iPhone, but it has a section of ‘Watch recordings’ where you see the date you recorded the notes, allowing you to place the message in a notebook.
I’ve recorded countless audio recordings on my watch using Noted and the default voice notes app. The ability to quickly press record and talk to your watch is invaluable. Yet, so many times, thoughts disappear forever to muse. Use the Apple Watch never to let this happen again!
13. Apple Watches Look Cool!
The Apple Watch is a cool fashion accessory. With countless bands available at a great price on Amazon, you will never run out of ways to accessorize your watch.
Removing bands from the Apple Watch is very easy, you press a button, and the band will separate. My band is the Nike band, it is designed for fitness, but when I want to look fancier, I switch brands to a more fashionable band.
A Rolex can cost anywhere between $6500 to $75000, and it isn’t as sleek or useful as an Apple Watch. By buying an Apple Watch, you are not only getting a powerful computer on your wrist but also purchasing a useful fashion statement.
14. The Apple Watch Is A Great Calculator
Surprisingly the Apple Watch has a calculator app, while the iPad doesn’t! I find it extremely useful. I have a 44m Apple Watch, but no matter which size you buy, the calculator size will be perfect, although I recommend getting the largest size that fits your wrist for the largest screen.
A sleek calculator on your wrist saves valuable screen real estate for your Mac and iPad. You don’t have to bother finding your iPhone to use its calculator.
Do you have a MacBook and wonder if buying an iPad is worth it? I recently purchased an iPad and think it works perfectly with the Mac. To learn more, please check out my article.
15. Apple Watch Helps You Meditate
I meditate daily for at least 5 minutes in the morning. According to numerous studies such as this one by Harvard neuroscientist Sara Lazar, meditation changes the structure of your brain, thickening key areas of the cortex that help you control your attention and emotions.
The Apple Watch Mindfulness app will remind you to do a short 1-minute meditation throughout the day. Even though I meditate, doing these short 1-minute sessions makes a BIG difference.
It helps that Apple designed the app so well. You do one of the following:
- Reflect: Tap Reflect, read the theme, focus your attention, then tap Begin.
- Breathe: Tap Breathe, inhale slowly as the animation grows, then exhale as it shrinks.
I just did a session and feel much more relaxed. The watch face has beautiful bright colors that you can look at as you meditate, I encourage everyone to meditate, and the Apple Watch makes it very easy.
You can read Apple’s official article here to learn about how Apple Watch mindfulness works.
16. Apple Pay Is the BEST on Apple Watch
Using Apple Pay with your iPhone is convenient, but paying with your Apple Watch is SUPER convenient.
In Thailand, I always use my Apple Watch to pay for things in 7-11s. All you need to do is open up your wallet app, press the button, and BOOM, you paid.
Yes, Apple Watch on the iPhone is good. You only need to press the side button to open your wallet, but you still need to find your iPhone to pay, which is often hidden in a bag or deep in your pockets. With your Watch, it’s always on your wrist.
17. The Apple Watch Has Life-Saving Health Features
The Apple Watch might not only change your life but also save it!
The Apple Watch has saved countless people’s lives. You can read five real stories on CNET about how the Apple Watch saved them and many more.
Here are the life-saving features of the Apple Watch, every couple of generations, Apple will introduce another excellent health feature.
Your Apple Watch will notify you if your heart rate remains above or below a chosen beat per minute(BPM). If your heart beats irregularly, you can learn more about the features in Apple’s article.
If your Apple Watch Series 4 or later, or Apple Watch detects you had a hard fall while wearing your Watch, it will display an alert and sound an alarm. You can contact emergency services or dismiss the alert by pressing the Digital Crown (side button) or tapping ‘I’m okay.’
If your watch sees you are not moving for a minute, it will begin a 30-second countdown while tapping you on the wrist and sounding an alert that will get louder, so people around you can hear. After the countdown ends, your watch automatically calls emergency services.
Your Apple Watch can detect a crash from iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2nd generation), and Apple Watch Ultra.
Crash detection is designed to detect car crashes, such as front-impact, side-impact, rear-end collisions, and rollovers. It works similarly to fall detection, but after 20 seconds, if you do not respond, it will automatically call emergency services, learn more about crash detection in Apple’s article.
If you find it difficult to track your medications, vitamins, and supplements, the Apple Watch makes it easy to keep on top of things. You can track your medicines and log them with remainders via the health app on your iPhone.
Learn more about Medication reminders in Apple’s article.

18. Use In-Built Shazam to Find the Best Songs
On September 24th, 2018, Apple bought Shazam for a reported $400 million, making it bundled with every Apple device.
Like Apple Pay, the Apple Watch is the best way to use Shazam. Just look at my video and how seamless it is. There is no need to find your iPhone. Instead, turn on Siri on your Watch and say ‘Shazam,’ and the Apple Watch will find your song.
Look at my video of me using Shazam on my Watch. It is SO easy.
19. The Apple Watch Is an Amazing Alarm to Gently Wake You Up
It would help if you got up early for work. I’m sure you are used to that terrible phone alarm waking you up from your peaceful sleep.
It doesn’t have to be this way! The Apple Watch, used with the app Sleep Cycle, analyzes your sleep and wakes you up at the perfect moment to feel rested.
Unlike phone alarm clocks, the Apple Watch alarm makes no sound. Instead, it will tap you with its sensor, which is much gentler and is similar to when someone carefully shakes you to wake you up, instead of a horrible loud sound that only gets louder the more you ignore it.
It is important to understand how iPhone alarms work. Look no further than my helpful article for everything you need to know about iPhone alarms.
