Are you facing any problems with your Apple AirPods? Have any questions involving Apple AirPods that need answering? Then you’re at the right place; In this article, I will answer all queries related to the most common problems faced by AirPods users.

Does Apple Clean AirPods For Free?

Apple stores offer free AirPods cleaning services if your AirPods are not working correctly and give suggestions on cleaning AirPods to maintain your AirPods for a more extended period.

I once had an issue with my right AirPod, which was working way weaker than the left one. After trying multiple times to clean it with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol, as suggested by Apple’s official AirPods cleaning guide, it still did not work.

So I took it to an Apple Store, and the Apple technician took it to the back to clean it for free. He used AirPod specialized cleaning tools to clean out the build-up dirt and ear gunk trapped inside the AirPods. Surprisingly, they did not charge a dollar for the cleaning, and my AirPods were working perfectly afterward.

If you have any audio issues with your AirPods, visit your nearest Apple Store and clean them for free. If your AirPods are under one year old, you can also claim an AirPod replacement from your nearest Apple Store.

How Long Do I Leave My AirPods In Rice?

It would be best if you did not leave your AirPods in rice; rice is not more effective than air-drying, and bits of rice might get stuck in your Airpods small holes and ports. Rice could even speed up corrosion inside of your Airpods. Instead, put the AirPods in a container with silica gel packets for two days.

According to Apple, you should not run your AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max underwater. Although AirPods Pro is water-resistant, the case is not. So if your AirPods Pro case gets wet, you can dry it out by putting it upside down in an airy room with its lid open.

Apple recommends using a soft dry lint-free cloth which you can get for a steal on Amazon. Wipe the AirPods with a cloth slightly dampened with fresh water and dry with a different material. Please DO NOT use them until they’re dry, or you risk permanent damage.

As far as AirPods (1st and 2nd generation) and AirPods Max are concerned, they are not water-resistant or waterproof. So if your AirPods, AirPods Max, or their charging cases get wet, even from sweat, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe them and dry the case by putting it upside down in an airy room with its lid open.

Restrict using a hairdryer to dry out your Airpods; you must be super careful if you do. I destroyed my One Plus 7 Pro using a hairdryer; it’s better to let the AirPods air dry or use a fan to help the process.

What to Do When Your AirPods Get Wet?

If the ear tips of your AirPods Pro or AirPods Max are wet, here’s what you should do according to Apple:

  1. Wipe them using a dry lint-free cloth in such a way that the opening of the ear tips is facing downward.
  2. Remove the ear tips and rinse them with water without using soap.
  3. Wipe them using a soft and dry cloth so that they are completely dry.
  4. Put the ear tips back on your AirPods.

If your entire AirPods get wet, leave them to dry in a cool and dry place. Please DO NOT put your AirPods in a bag of rice as it might damage its internal parts. If your AirPods are not working even after drying them out, take them to your nearest Apple Store.

Why Can Nobody Hear Me On My AirPods?

By default, AirPods are set to automatically switch between left and right microphones on a phone call, making it harder for someone to hear you. To fix, choose the microphone, tap always left AirPod or always right Airpod. Or your AirPods mic is dirty, AirPods battery is low, you have an issue with your mobile network, or your AirPods have a bug.

The first thing you should do if people cannot hear you on your AirPods is to check if your iPhone has the latest iOS version installed. Next, try to reset your AirPods and then test them afterward

If it still does not work, ensure that your AirPods mic is set to automatic. For example, if the mic is set to only one side (left or right), that particular side would be used for the mic even if that AirPod is in the case.

You can change the mic settings of your AirPods by opening the AirPods Case, going to your iPhone Settings > Bluetooth. Then, in the list of devices, tap on the information icon of your AirPods.

If you continue to face the same problem with your AirPods, clean them using this cleaning guide by Apple and make sure your AirPods are charged because if they have a low battery, your mics won’t work correctly.

If the problem persists, you will need to get your AirPods inspected at an Apple Store or by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Are you going on a trip and don’t want to carry two same chargers for your iPhone and iPad? If so, please read my article to find out whether only one charger would be safe for both devices.

Why Is One Of My AirPods Quieter Than The Other?

If one of your AirPods is quieter than the other, either that particular AirPod might adjust a build-up of debris or air wax or the audio volume balance slider that way in your iPhone’s Settings.

There are two reasons why the volume in one of your AirPods is low. Either a build-up of earwax/debris within your AirPods or the hearing settings are adjusted to sound lower on a particular side.

To fix this issue:

  1. Follow Apple’s official guidelines to clean your AirPods.
  2. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Balance. Check if the audio balance is set to the middle.

If the problem persists, visit your nearest Apple Store and get your AirPods inspected. The Apple technicians would clean your AirPods for free and even offer a replacement if you are still under the one-year warranty.

Why Are My AirPods Pros Beeping?

The beeping sound usually means low battery. Go to settings>Bluetooth and tap the icon to see your AirPods battery health. However, the beeping could be acoustic feedback from the AirPod pro microphone that occurs when the microphone is blocked.

The loud beeping sound that occurs in AirPods Pro when you push them into your ears is just its hardware being quirky. That’s because AirPods Pro comes with two active noise cancellation mechanisms, one on the inside and one on the outside.

And if both of these mechanisms are outputting during moderate to high background noise, they will make a beeping sound and cancel each other if you press them.

So if you are facing this problem, you can take your AirPods Pro to the nearest Apple Store and request a replacement. Although you would need to be covered under the one-year warranty, Apple might still replace your AirPods Pro for free since this is a common malfunctioning problem faced by many AirPods Pro users.

So go ahead and try out your luck.
