Are you wondering whether a MacBook Pro is durable or not? Do you want to upgrade to the MacBook Pro, thinking it’s more durable and powerful? I’m here to help you understand why the MacBook Pro is a tough laptop and a sturdy device.

MacBook Pros aluminium body makes it resistant to everyday wear and tear, putting a MacBook in a bag or briefcase will not wear down the casing, they can survive minor drops. MacBooks run on SSD which have have no moving parts, which is more resistant than a hard-drive.

I travelled with my MacBook Air in my backpack through South America, and despite me not being careful with it it never got damaged, you can read more about my experience in my article.

If you want to learn more about how durable MacBook Pros are, read on to find out if MacBook Pros are tough, whether they break easily, whether they are bulletproof, which is more durable, a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, and whether MacBook Pros can survive a fall.

Are MacBook Pros Tough?

The aluminum body of a MacBook Pro is resistant to everyday wear and tear. The casing of a laptop is typically worn down when tossed in a laptop bag or briefcase. However, the unique aluminum casing will resist only minor scratches and dents.

As with all Apple devices, the materials used are high quality. Other laptops have various finishes, but the casing of a MacBook is made out of metallic aluminum, making it resistant to scratches and minor dents.

The MacBook Pro’s design and features alone have many advantages compared to other brands. You would not want to use a fragile and unusable laptop after a minor scratch or dent.

Here are some of the features the MacBook Pro’s outer casing and its general durability has to offer:

Durability FeaturesDescription
Product’s Design  It has a sleek design and a unibody architecture, which means aluminum is used to fabricate the MacBook’s hardware. The casing is not the only part that is covered in aluminum. The keyboard’s framework and speaker grills are also aluminum, making it even sturdier.
Stability  Since most of its outer casing is made of aluminum; it’s very rigid and durable. Apple has been consistent with its materials, especially on the MacBook Pro series. They have minor adjustments to the interface but more or less the same materials used for the casing.
Resistance MacBook Pro is tough because of the aluminum unibody. As a result, it’s highly resistant to everyday wear and tear, such as minor scratches and dents, typically in regular laptops.
MacBook Durability Features

Although the overall durability of a MacBook Pro is excellent, replacing defective or damaged items will be much of a hassle since, unlike other laptops, MacBooks need to be repaired by an Apple Technician or an Apple authorized repair outlet.

Replacing its hardware like keyboard, speakers, and the display will be a lot more complicated and may even take more time to complete since their parts and services are done systematically.

Do MacBook Pros Break Easily?

MacBook Pros do not break easily, it is a sturdy well-built laptop although even the toughest computer can break under the right circumstances. However MacBooks lack user-repairable parts making Apple Care a good investment.

As you can see from the drop test above, the MacBook Pro is resilient and still works even after a few drops. Although it loses some of the aluminum casing from its bottom, it still can be powered on even when dropped from a certain height.

The damage of the drop also varies depending on the distance of the drop and the part of the MacBook that comes into contact with the surface first. If it’s going to fall flat, then it still might work. However, if it was dropped with the lid open, you can expect a broken MacBook screen.

Curious on how much it costs to repair a broken MacBook screen? I’ll tell you a secret it’s NOT cheap! Discover the repair costs and if its worth the repair in my helpful article.

A MacBook Pro has multiple parts that work together to function as a whole, some parts are fragile, and some features are more durable than others. Apple’s design experts made sure that the MacBook Pros are usable and resistant to damage that comes from everyday use.

However, this doesn’t mean that the MacBook Pro is resistant to hardcore wear and tear. For example, bringing your MacBook to school, storing it in your bag, and using it in meetings will not break or damage the MacBook as it is resistant to everyday wear and tear.

However, MacBook Pro isn’t vulnerable to damage if it’s exposed to hazardous activities like:

  1. Falling off the table.
  2. Accidentally drench it with liquid.
  3. Throwing objects at the device.

As long as your MacBook is not exposed to significant hazards, it is a resilient machine that can withstand the everyday struggles a laptop goes through and is resistant to minor scratches and dents.

Is MacBook Pro Bulletproof?

The MacBook Pro can stop a .22 cal and a 9mm handgun, according to the YouTuber 22 Plinkster. However the MacBook Pro is not mean’t to be used as a bullet proof device.

Though the Apple laptop is not meant to be used as a bullet proof device, its great to know if your faced by a gunman and they only have a 9mm your MacBook Pro does offer SOME protection.

Although Macs can survive a few drop tests, they are not meant to be a shield to protect yourself from gunshots. I

I advise you to read my article on six ways to keep your MacBook protected so that you know how to extend your MacBook Pro’s lifespan. MacBook Pro is a durable computer, but you still need to take some measures to ensure that you’re getting the most value out of your money.

Can MacBook Pros Survive a Fall?

MacBook can survive a fall, but even a small fall or can damage the screen. The screen is fused with the computer, making it very expensive and difficult to repair as the whole computer needs to be serviced by Apple. Although in most cases a MacBook Pro will still work after a drop, as long as the internal components like the SSD and GPU still work.

I’ve only dropped my MacBook from around 1-2 foot on a carpet and it’s been fine.

As long all the internal parts of a MacBook Pro survive, there’s a high chance that your MacBook will still work.If it fell from the table, it may still work as long as the display also works and the parts inside are okay.
